April 10, 2012
Remember back in February when we left postcards around town, hoping they’d be passed from amateur artist to amateur artist? They were stamped and addressed to us, with a request that they be in the mail by April. I believe I also mentioned that I didn’t have much hope that we’d get more than one or two back, perhaps none at all. Well we got THREE back…sorta.
I had kind of salted the mine with one. I gave it to a high school friend of mine and asked her to pass it around the art department, so that we’d be assured of getting one back. Here it is:

At least I’m assuming this is from the high school art students, because it was left on the counter in my classroom rather than being mailed. It turns out that one of our parents decided independently to do something similar. She’s a teacher and she passed the postcard around her class, rather than leaving it out to be discovered. Here hers is:

So it turns out that, while we got three postcards back, we only got one truly guerilla art card. Here it is:

I’m happy with the project. Next year I won’t bother passing a card around the art department and I’ll word the note home a little stronger, too.
